Oh Ok. Thanks Shaun. So if we need a system that works for us, we contact you?

Hi Denise,
Quite simply, our strategy to resolving this problem has been to supply providers with systems that work for them. Then an interface exists so they don't have to double capture the information to submit to all the relevant SETAs.

I have to agree with Nigel here. As one of the providers that works with a few different SETAs, it can be quite daunting with all the different systems.

Hi Shaun,
Haven't forgotten this, just tied up a little.

I will elaborate a little more later, but I find that there are differences between the MIS's required by different ETQA's. The ETQA's all seem to have opted for different IT Providers who have all developed different systems for the respective ETQA MIS. This in turn impacts on the providers who are accreditted over a number of ETQA's and are uploading learner info in different formats. Perhaps the key here is for all ETQA's to adopt a common system, which will return to a common system for all providers. Need to explore this a lot more though.

Hi Nigel,
Thanks for your comments. Consistency has many advantages including allowing providers to co-operate with one another and standardised reporting.

I feels costs of using and managing MIS's are changing due to SaaS - Software as a Service.

Do you have any practical suggestions that we could explore to satisfy your need of finding an affordable, easy to use MIS for the SMME sector of providers?
Nigel Storm Shipston Comment by Nigel Storm Shipston on September 12, 2009 at 10:07am
Hi Shaun,
Agreed, buy in is most important. Obviously a lot easier for smaller organisations, but as they grow larger this buy in becomes a bit more strenuous. What I find most needed at the moment is an affordable, easy to use MIS that will satisfy the SMME sector of providers. I would estimate that 90% of the providers I deal with currently fall within this category, and they are restricted by time and finance in terms of exploring MIS's. I might add that many have done a little research into this and have been put off by costs and /or reputation. In the name of consistency, I would love to see all these providers operating on a common MIS.
