PSIRA registration required by inhouse security providers

By sylviahammond, 4 December, 2013

I was interested to discover that companies that employ their own security guards are required to register with the Private Sector Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) as an in-house private security provider.

This involves the manager and supervisors and all the actual security guards to also be registered with PSIRA.  They need to submit their ID and proof of their training.

My understanding is that the training would be SASSETA accredited training.

The question I have is: how many companies who may employ security guards are aware of this requirement?  Is it generally known by HR practitioners?
