Survey of Private Providers' Experience with Quality Assurance

Hi everyone

Done at last. Please see attached. Please note that it has not been peer reviewed so there may be room for improvement.

I would be pleased to know what you think

Regards

Jacqui

Wow, Jacqui, this work is great! Your research comes at just the right time. I must say that my experience over thirteen years of accreditation with two different ETQAs also corroborates your findings. Well done with a good piece of work and thank you for focussing on this subject.

Hi Jacqui,
I can't open the link my server is blocking it. Is it possible to send it to me via email: ramona@avbob.co.za

It certainly echoes my experience as a private provider.

Well done!

Excellent - my thoughts put into words exactly. Well done.

Dear Jacqui,

As one of your respondents, I salute you for bringing our plight to the attention to the broader public out there. I have printed your findings and shall be using it as evidence as to why I have taken the painful decision to leave my chosen ( 30 year ) career in education and training. The short answer is that, like so many "Micro -Providers" ,without accreditation one simply cannot get sufficent work to make our businesses viable. Your survey has confirmed my   suspicion  that normal business practices do not apply to us and short of staving to death, breadwinners have to explore other means of keeping the wolf from the door.Unfortunately, the real losers are those potential learners who will remain unskilled and thus unemployable, a sad state of affairs for our wonderful country and its people who continue to be denied their basic right to education.

Dear Jacqui,

With this being the just the kick off of your research, you are going to produce some excellent work. If I may, with your permission utilise it for some of my future assignments at NWU, I would really appreciate it. Jacqui please do keep me appraised of your progress.

My best, Ashwell

Jacqui, excellent work and thank you very much for taking up the challenge. I agree with Marietta that this is the right time, and I trust that the parliamentary committee will also receive this. I have nothing to add in any submission, so please ensure that this is presented!!

Also keep me in the loop with the rest of your research.

Thank you again.

I think we found a solution for SMMEs like yourself many years ago. Please do not give up now. Perhaps you can contact Assessment College and speak to Fransie.

The real question is what to do with this now. Do I send it to the powers that be e.g the Minister, the SETA CEO's, UMALUSI, etc?

Dear Jacqui,

I would send it out for further comments or inputs and then get it peer reviewed, then send it off to the powers that be. Well done again.

My best, Ashwell

Ashwell has a good suggestion. However, I would like to see that the Portfolio Committee sitting next week at least take notice of this survey and the process underway. I think it is a very valuable contribution to their process of hearing comments on the amended bill. I am hoping that Sylvia or Marietta might know to put this in the hands of one of the representatives. Or maybe you should contact Rooksana directly? I could also maybe suggest this to her?

It is perfectly good as is. This is a research paper and not a government paper. I hope that you will send it to SAQA, to the QCTO, to the Minister of DHET and to APPETD.

It should also go personally to Dr Marina le Grange who represents us on the QCTO board, to Rooksana Rajab who represents us at the SDA, to Dr Sakkie van der Merwe, Chair of APPETD and to Dr Florus Prinsloo, Consultant to the DHET and NAM. If you like, I can forward this to some of these people Jacqui.
